ok this worked for my phone I have AT&T but its worth a try.
OK this hack is for txt messages if your like me who cant get'em ( went over limit)
Step 1: Open message center
Step 2: Find the message u want 2 read
Step 3: Hit options and hit forward
Step 4: Now you R done when u hit forward u read the message without opening it therefore u don't receive a charge.
This might not work on newer razrs or phones for security rezons
